Cuban Names! If you are Cuban, live in Miami, or have cuban friends, you have probably heard some awkward names.
Cuban parents have being very creative in the last two to three decades revealing a nomenclature revolution. The reason why they do it is not concrete, but is certain that roots from all over the world. One common pattern found in Cuban names is that most have a Y incorporated rather at the beginning, middle or end. It is said that this is mainly influenced by the Russians. Others are direct translations from the English language.
The question is, Are Cubans using names as a form of liberation? Is there a particular message that’s being tried to communicate?
